At The Hartful Company, we're passionate about making everyday life easier and more enjoyable. And for dog owners, one of the biggest daily challenges is. . . dog walking. Anyone who's tried to walk multiple dogs at once knows the frustration of tangled leads, twisted straps, and the general chaos that can follow. That’s why we’re excited to share the journey behind MyHerculead — our multiple dog walking lead designed to eliminate tangles and restore calm to your walks.

1. The Problem We're Solving

We've all been there: trying to enjoy a peaceful walk, only to end up untangling leads while your dogs wrap themselves into knots. It’s frustrating, time-consuming, and can even be unsafe. We knew there had to be a better way.

2. The Spark of an Idea

MyHerculead was born from real-life experience. After years of walking multiple dogs and navigating constant lead chaos, we envisioned a safer, more intuitive way to manage multiple dogs comfortably — without stress, strain, or tangles.

3. Designing the Solution

Our design process is focused on creating a lead system that is compact, durable, ergonomic, and truly anti-tangle. We’ve explored countless materials, mechanisms, and configurations, prioritizing safety, control, and real-world usability over gimmicks.

4. Overcoming Challenges

Developing MyHerculead hasn’t been without its challenges. One of the biggest hurdles is finding materials that are lightweight yet strong enough to safely manage the pull force of multiple large dogs — without adding bulk or strain to the handler. Preventing tangling and twisting while maintaining smooth, independent movement added another layer of complexity.

Through extensive testing and refinement, we are developing a solution we’re incredibly excited about. While we’re not revealing the full design just yet, we can share that it combines ergonomic handling with a compact internal system that keeps movement controlled, balanced, and comfortable — even with powerful, energetic dogs.

We believe MyHerculead will fundamentally change how people walk multiple dogs. Imagine stress-free walks, no tangled leads, improved control, and a more enjoyable experience for both humans and their furry companions — whether you're walking two dogs, three very strong ones, or more.

With over a decade of hands-on prototyping experience — including 69 iterations of a multiple dog walking lead focused on real-world safety and usability — their work bridges industrial precision with everyday problem-solving.

As webmaster and technical architect for The Hartful Company, E. Black also oversees digital infrastructure, optimization, and systems design, ensuring that every product and platform meets rigorous standards of performance, reliability, and user trust.
