Welcome to the digital home of The Hartful Company.

This space represents more than a portfolio — it marks the convergence of two distinct paths into one shared vision. As Technical Director, I’m proud to introduce the foundation behind our work and the philosophy guiding everything we build.

The Hartful Company was born from a partnership — both professional and personal — between myself, Evan Blackhart, and Elysia Blackhart. My background is rooted in American industrial design, invention, and digital architecture. Elysia, an Australian artist of Greek descent, brings the creative soul to our work, inspired by heritage, nature, and human connection.

After our marriage and the merging of our surnames, we chose to consolidate our studios — forming what we call the Black–Hart alliance. This union allows us to bridge technical precision with emotional intelligence, logic with imagination, and function with meaning.

Moving forward, I’ll oversee technical infrastructure, product development, and systems design, while Elysia leads our creative direction, storytelling, and narrative voice. You’ll see my hand in how things work — and hers in why they matter.

E. Black is a multi-disciplinary inventor and Technical Director at The Hartful Company, specializing in practical, safety-driven product design and lean innovation. With over a decade of hands-on prototyping experience — including 69 iterations of a multiple dog walking lead focused on real-world safety and usability — their work bridges industrial precision with everyday problem-solving.

As webmaster and technical architect for The Hartful Company, E. Black also oversees digital infrastructure, optimization, and systems design, ensuring that every product and platform meets rigorous standards of performance, reliability, and user trust. Their work is guided by one principle: innovation should make life safer, simpler, and better — for humans and animals alike.
